WHAT! You made some art AND are blogging about it?!

Yup, that's right.  I have and I am. However, if you are a kind and loving family member of mine, you would be worried to know that it is 4:30 am while writing this.  I should be sleeping, as I get very little with, well, my little ones.  Alas, I was awoken a third time this fine night to crying and now that the bundle of wonderful is gently asleep and back in the crib, I can not fall back asleep.

While I realize that I do not have a readership, other than immediate family (no insult intended, I love you guys and all of your encouraging support), and that this is going out into the vast, zero gravity inter-"space", I feel that writing as if talking to imaginary friends helpful.  Thus, there will be an abundance of run-on and nonsensical sentences, comas, and grammatical errors.  While my ANALytic, and meticulous side will be greatly disappointed (and my even more perfectionistic life partner, whom I love dearly)...  I am almost always sleep deprived these days.  I don't talk that way. I am a fair failure at verbal communication, it is too fast for me, I need time to internalize and crunch data. Most importantly, my friends (not just the imaginary ones) wouldn't recognize me if I continued trying to write clear, concise, and extremely edited... and somehow try to be personable at the same time.

Any how, I digress... again it is after 4:30 am.  Don't be a smart ass, yes, at this point everything is AFTER the time I started writing this. You should be ashamed, you got me off track again! Sleep, I need you...

OK, to the point and in order of completion, some of the 5" x 7" or smaller watercolors I recently completed:

POM in Doll Collector Magazine

So, one of my moms recent art dolls Steam Punk Amanda a Time Passenger is in the September 2011 issue of Doll Collector magazine!  I have thus belatedly added said doll to her website and hope to get the twenty plus other finished dolls up soon too.  You can read more about it at her blog.

In other news, I ran across this inspirational page "How to Steal Like an Artist" on Austin Klean's website.  It got me a little amped, so I strapped Baby V in her stroller and readdressed the shelving layout to get my art room fixed up.  It has become the "store all" room since our big move and is the last to get into working order.  Hopefully I will finish organizing and have some new art work to share soon.

Have you come across anything you found motivating lately?  If so, please share in the comment section below.

Some kind of Fairies

Ok, so I feel bad.  I have a few things here and there to post, but find it incredibly difficult to have hands free from Baby V long enough to do day to day stuff.  I find it even more difficult to find time to do extra things like art and blogging and the myriad of other things I want and need to do.  :)  Anyways, here are a few new ACEO's I have completed.  You can see more details on my DeviantArt account and here.  Let me know what you think.  Am I working in the right direction with these and should I start going bigger than 2.5"x3.5"?  Or should I focus on some of my floral oil work like these?

Boogey Boys & Glass Mt. Princess

So I have been trying to get more of my mom, Paula's, recent art dolls up on her site this week.  I'm am very happy to say I have made three pages. One for her other two Boogey Boys Bull Boy, Devil Boy, and a new elf Glass Mountain Princess which I adore.  Here is a couple of quick pics.  Hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I do.  Go check out the respective links to see more images.

Fairy ACEO/ATC

I got myself over to the art room and painted a little something during December. Small and not much, but at least it is something. I found some cheap frames awhile back that hold three 2.5"x3.5" photos per frame. I have eight old fairy or elf ACEO's and needed a ninth to fill up the final frame. To get an idea of the little series, here are some of the other fairy ACEO's I did back in 2007. You may recognize one, as I use it often for my online ID photos.

That's all for now.  :)

Still Life Practice Project

OK, so it has taken me forever to post this.  I posted it over on my Deviantart account awhile ago.  I keep meaning to spend some quality time to write up a little bit about the process and my original intentions for these finished pieces.   But I'm just not feeling it anymore, as this project has been complete for so long now.  So here they are in order of size...

This is part of a small still life series I created as a gift for my husband. The series was also intended to help me "brush up" my skills. Going back to basic still life was a good exercise for me.

Medium: Watercolor on yupo paper

Size: Two 2.5"x3" ACEO/ATC, Three 3.5"x5", and one 5"x7" and the concept sketches on 8.5"11" sketch paper

It's an Etsy Thing...

So, I'm still a little behind on creating web pages for all of my moms art dolls, but I did help her set up an Etsy shop.  I've wanted to get one up for myself for a long time, I just don't have anything to put on it yet.
Anyways, my mom, Paula now has an Etsy shop. In order to get a feel for how her new Etsy shop works and to join in on the holiday festivities, Paula has made some fun handmade pins. The pins feature one of her favorite characters, Santa Claus. Go check these jolly fellows out. Whenever she takes these little guys to the local Art Center or the annual Christmas Boutique, they sell out quickly.

As soon as we get some general shop policies established, her available art dolls will make an appearance too. So stay tuned, for a quicker and easier way to purchase Paula’s dolls.

Also, Paula is currently working on the finishing touches of an all new Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus doll duo. I got a sneak peak over Thanksgiving and can’t wait to see the final results.

Happy Holidays and Best Wishes for a Wonderful New Year!
